In Tribute to Those who Inspire Us
Longtime Denver resident, John W. (Jack) Doucette, M.D., passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 95.
His family requests that donations in Jack’s memory be made to Metro Caring, an organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and food insecurity in Colorado.
Jack grew up in humble circumstances in Detroit, MI and eventually built a comfortable life for his family in Denver, CO, his home for the last sixty years. Jack cared deeply for his fellow human beings and the environment. An unrelenting advocate for the disenfranchised and underprivileged, Jack was troubled by poverty, homelessness, and inequity that he witnessed in Colorado.
After his retirement, Jack volunteered at his local public elementary school, tutoring children struggling with basic math and reading skills. He assembled snack packets which he kept in his car, and handed out to unhoused people he passed at intersections.
Jack learned about Metro Caring at the First Unitarian Church of Denver, where he was a longtime member, and regularly dropped off donations of produce from his garden to Metro Caring. Your donations to Metro Caring in Jack’s memory are greatly appreciated.
We believe in honoring the people who’ve made a lasting impact. Your tribute gift will help provide warmth, hope, and essential support to families and individuals in need.
Each donation includes the option to send a personalized e-card and share a message of love or remembrance.
